To rent a car from Ascent Car Rental you will need the following:

  • Be 18 years old (if you’re under 25, you may be required to pay a young driver’s fee)
  • A valid driver’s license with a photo
  • Credit or debit card (check the acceptable forms of payment)

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and JCB) as well as most debit cards with Interact.
Yes. In every rental you have a limitation of 300/km per day, meaning that for one day you have 300/km included. For example, if the rental is for 3 days you will have a total of 900/km included. Everything above that will be charged extra. Special terms apply for weekly and monthly kilometer allowance.
If anyone besides the authorized driver ended up driving the vehicle, this will result in a charge of CAD$0.50 per km driven on this rental, as stated on the terms and conditions available on this website.
Yes. You can be the renter of the vehicle and holder of the credit card made for the rental and have someone else added as additional driver.
Yes. If you have the proper documentation confirming that you are currently in process of getting a new license, than it shouldn’t be
an issue at all. As always, we would need the necessary paperwork and picture ID. Please contact us for more information.
Yes. As long as you have the appropriate documentation and the proper photo ID. Please contact us for more information.
Yes. We accept Class 7 licenses and you are more than welcome to rent with us. Renting a car with a Class 7 license is perfectly
legal. Please place your ‘N’ Driver sign on the back of the vehicle once you get in one of our cars.
No. We accept drivers license from every country. On the other hand, we may require a passport for drivers license that are not in English such as Japanese and Korean for example.
No. You only have to provide your credit card number.
Please note that the rental rate of the vehicle does not include the cost of fuel.
In this case, you have 3 options:

  1. Bring back the vehicle with a full tank of gas and provide the receipt of the fuel purchased.
  2. Pre-purchase the fuel in advance. A lot of our customers prefer this option as it eliminates the stress and hassle of trying to find a gas station and fill the tank at the end of the rental period.
  3. Bring the vehicle back and let us (Ascent Car Rental) re-fuel for you based on the price as stated on the contract.

No. Ascent Car Rental offers optional Loss Damage Waiver (LDW). LDW is not insurance. It is an option that relieves the renter of financial responsibility, subject to a deductible, should the vehicle be damaged or stolen while under a rental agreement.

At rental time our friendly staff will be more than happy to explain how the LDW works and the other coverage options available to you.

Yes we are flexible when it comes to returning the car in another city, province or even a state. Please contact our itinerary specialist who will create the best possible solution for your travel needs.
Canadian vehicles may be driven into the U.S. It’s always best to ask about any cross-border restrictions.
The make/models shown are examples only. Ascent Car Rental is unable to guarantee a specific make/model. Only a vehicle type and category.

Yes you can have your vehicle delivered at the airport or we can pick you up over there, for a fee of $100. You can also return the car at the airport for the same price.
 If you decide to do it after hours, a special fee will apply. Please contact our office for more information.

Ascent allows you to make changes to a reservation up to two times.
Any change to a booking made online or through the call center will be recalculated based on the availability and prices at the time the change is made. This may be greater or lesser than the price originally booked. This applies to changes made to:
a. Drop off location
b. Pick up date and time
c. Drop off time and date
d. Vehicle group

As a courtesy to fellow customers, please cancel any unneeded reservation as soon as your plans change. In certain cases, and with certain rates or vehicle groups, a cancellation fee may apply if an unwanted reservation is not canceled at least 48 hours prior to the reserved pick-up time.
Those fees are:

  • If you cancel your booking more than 2 days (48 Hours) prior to your scheduled pick-up time you will not be charged for any cancellation fees.
  • If you cancel your booking within 48 hours of your scheduled pick-up time, you will be charged 50% of your rental fee.
  • If you fail to show up for your reservation without any notice, you will be charged 100% of your rental fee.

Ascent will keep the reservation confirmed for 2 hours after the original time of booking. After that we have the right to release the vehicle that is on hold for the next customer. Cancellation fees will apply.

One way rentals (rentals with drop offs in other cities) cancellation policy:
  • If you cancel your booking more than 15 days prior to your scheduled pick-up time you will not be charged any cancellation fees.
  • If you cancel your booking within 15 days of your scheduled pick-up time, you will be charged 50% of your rental fee.
  • If you fail to show up for your reservation without any notice, you will be charged 100% of your rental fee.

Please note that we are unable to give a refund if you return the vehicle early.

Yes. You can get a 15% discount on our rates if you provide a valid student ID.
Extending the rental period is possible at the time of check-out or during the rental itself. However, you must notify us at least 2
hours prior to the expiration of the rental period. The extension is subject to vehicle availability and extra payment. An additional credit or debit card authorization may be required. If you fail to request an extension in the given period, the vehicle
may be notified to the police as stolen.
If the vehicle returns more than 59 minutes after the time set for it in the Rental Agreement, we will be forced to charge a full extra day.
Absolutely. You can use our website to check rates. You can also save the quote you created online for future reference.
Yes, we have child seats for all sizes and ages. All cars have android auto and apple car play so you can use your phone as a navigation. Also we have Garmin devices you can rent for a fee.
We do not allow people to smoke inside our vehicles, all our fleet is smoke free. Cleaning charges will apply of minimum $300.
If you cross a toll bridge, you have two options, you can either go to the bridge administration website and pay by yourself or you can tell us when you return the vehicle and we include the amount on your rental agreement. If the crossing is not communicated and the amount not paid, an administrative fee is applied.
Regarding parking tickets, you can also pay the bill directly or let us know and we include it in your rental agreement.
Sorry, no pets. Exceptions include service pets with some restrictions and mandatory crates/seat covers to avoid the cleaning policy.
Off-roading is prohibited without a special written permit. Ascent vehicles may be operated only on paved and regularly maintained roads.
The most preferred way of ending your rental and returning the vehicle is a hassle and worry-free option, of parking the vehicle on PARKING Level 2 adjacent to the Cruise Ship Terminal and Pan Pacific Hotel. There are designated parking stalls with signage pointing out where to park the car. Once you take all your belongings, please lock the car, and proceed to our counter to deposit the keys in our key drop box. The full detailed instructions will be provided at the time of check out by our friendly and helpful staff.
At our non-airport locations, located within Canada, acceptable forms of payment include credit cards or debit cards. Please be advised that when using a debit card, special conditions may apply, so please read all the conditions below.

A major credit card is a card that is supported by a pre-determined line of credit, and not a bank account, or a pre-paid balance.

American Express®, MasterCard®, and Visa® credit cards are accepted at our non-airport Locations, located within Canada.
